MaSEA May Ethics: When To Walk Away

We’re going to focus on sections 10.34 d and 10.35 of Circular 230 and other relevant parts. We’ll address these by telling real stories of clients that came to us that we said “no, I’m sorry, I won’t do your taxes” and stories of “why did I say yes to doing that guy’s taxes?” Participants will be invited to tell their own stories and ask questions. Participants will receive 2 IRS CE credits for attending the course and completing the required poll questions throughout the duration of the webinar.

About Our Speakers
Karen Ceppetelli
Karen Ceppetelli is the founder and owner of Acorn Business Advisors. Started in 2001 to help the friend-of-a-friend with her business bookkeeping. The business has continued helping business owners with their bookkeeping and expanded to include accounting, tax planning and preparation. Clients range from retailers, restaurants, specialty foods, legal, medical and construction contractors.
Karen is an Enrolled Agent (EA) with the IRS with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. She has extensive experience in personal, partnership, corporate and sales taxes. Memberships and continued education with various organizations such as the AICPA, Intuit ProAdvisor and National Association of Enrolled Agents allows Karen to stay up to date with current business trends and tax laws.
Karen enjoys teaching with the Center for Women in Enterprise, speaking at SBA, Chamber of Commerce and other organization events, as well as volunteering many years with the AARP Tax Aide Program. She enjoys her time as a Library Trustee, reading, hiking, biking, horseback riding, wine and traveling while living in Grafton, MA.
Ron Pallisco
“I have been an accountant for longer than I care to admit to,” says Pallisco. He is a graduate of Bryant University and has a bookkeeping and tax practice in Westborough. He has serviced the small business community for the past 30 plus years.
Beth Logan
Beth Logan is an Enrolled Agent with a tax practice and business consulting company. She teaches tax classes to lay persons and other tax professionals. She is a nationally published author on taxes, including Divorce and Taxes After Tax Reform. In the lulls between tax seasons, she helps small businesses grow and advises businesses and individuals on financial decisions that can impact their taxes. She has an MBA from the University of Maryland and two engineering degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology.
