You can’t really call them taxpayers, because they aren’t paying taxes. You can call them your potential clients, because they desperately need your assistance.

With this information the Tax Practitioner can take control of the business terms with the potential client and will be better prepared to work out a solution with the taxing authorities. How do you determine the fee without knowing the course of action? You might charge a few hundred dollars to provide certain collection representation services and you might need to assess a fee of a few thousand dollars for other collection representation services. Learn to recognize the differences.

John Warren EA explores seven practical IRS installment agreement plans and five typical MA DOR payment options. A dozen forms are included. There is an emphasis on preparing the financials for Offers in Compromise and Non-Conventional Payment Plans.

Without a handle on all possible collection settlements, the practitioner cannot determine the most favorable resolution.

After this presentation,

  • You will be able to apply the appropriate pricing strategy to resolve a tax collections dispute.
  • You will recognize easy resolution situations.
  • You will better determine what are the more involved tax resolution situations.
  • You will employ more effective strategies to collaborate with tax authorities.

Note: This is the last round of small group tax talks as hosted by MaSEA. In the future, the MA Chapter of NAEA will sponsor such events.
